The melancholic feline was not a people person, she would hiss and claw at anyone who attempted to approach her. However, her unfriendly behavior stemmed from the excruciating agony she had been experiencing for several months, and not because of her grumpy personality.
Upon conducting an examination of Pinna, the veterinary team deduced that the culprit behind her affliction was none other than the sun. The extensive damage caused by sunburn eventually led to the onset of cancer, with one of her ears hanging by a mere thread as a result. If only Pinna had been aware of this danger earlier, she would have sought refuge in the safety of shadows without hesitation.
The veterinary team at Bradford Cat Watch Rescue Kittens had to perform a lengthy four-hour surgery to eradicate all the tissue affected by squamous cell carcinoma in a cat. This procedure, along with post-operative therapy, amounted to £900 (approximately 75.5 thousand rubles!). Following a ten-day healing period, the feline must be safeguarded with particular care, as its ears require regular coating with factor 50 sunscreen.
The volunteers are optimistic about finding someone to adopt Pinna and give her a loving home. Pinna, once a sick and hissing feline, has transformed into a gentle and affectionate pet that enjoys being held and cuddled by people. Cathy, Pinna’s current caretaker, suggests that the ideal home for her would be indoors, but if she goes outside, her ears must be protected from direct sunlight. Pinna prefers the shade and requires regular application of a special cream for protection.
