After a tough competition, Jena Irene and Caleb Johnson emerged as the final two contestants competing for the crown on Idol next week. Unfortunately, Alex Preston was sent home, leaving the two finalists to battle it out for the win. Despite lower ratings this season, the show has been renewed for a 14th season, with judges Jennifer, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr set to return, along with host Ryan Seacrest.
The lovely judge is set to make a comeback for the 14th season of Idol next year. The show, which was once a huge hit, will be shortened from over 50 hours to just 37, with some changes on the way. Fox CEO Kevin Reilly mentioned that they are considering a two-night format, especially for the audition phase, and may end up having a two-hour show on one night for the rest of the season.
