Dogs are often referred to as our faithful companions, but this touching tale shows that they also stand by each other in times of need. In Muscoy, California, a German shepherd named Marley was purportedly struck by a vehicle. Despite being a stray, her loyal friend Murphy stayed put beside her, unwilling to leave her alone. The two dogs waited for several hours, with cars passing by without stopping to offer assistance. Eventually, a driver stopped and took notice of the injured canines, promptly reaching out to Dream Fetchers: Project Rescue.
According to Faith Easdale, a rescuer from a non-profit organization, they received a distressing message about a dog named Marley lying on the side of the road. Upon arriving at the scene, Marley was in severe pain and distress, making her survival uncertain. While lifting Marley into the car, Murphy, another dog, remained vigilant. He even cuddled up beside Marley on the back seat, resting his head on her belly to comfort her.
Faith Easdale shared a heartwarming story of her German Shepard, Murphy, who refused to leave the side of Marley, a pregnant stray dog, after she was hit by a car. Despite Marley’s heavy weight, Easdale and Murphy managed to move her to safety before rescuers arrived. X-rays revealed that Murphy had multiple broken bones, but also a surprising discovery – she was carrying 11 puppies.
The initial days after Marley was rescued were quite tense as Murphy constantly stayed by her side, only easing up when he understood that the pregnant dog was now out of harm’s way. Although he got to be with her in the hospital, Marley’s condition was still critical, and Murphy wanted to be able to run around and play. Faith Easdale, who later helped Murphy find a permanent home, shared that Marley’s delivery wasn’t easy either, but despite being injured and having casts on two of her legs, she managed to give birth to 11 healthy puppies whom she lovingly cared for.
After undergoing several visits to the vet, Marley, an injured dog, has finally healed completely after two years. Moreover, her puppies have also grown and are happily living in their respective homes. Marley’s new family shared on Facebook that she remains as adorable and charming as the day they adopted her, and she plays as if she never had any broken bones.
