Kona’s folks made the choice to take in two kittens, Chester and Blair, as foster pets. These adorable felines were discovered together in a backyard in New York City last December when they were between 10 to 12 weeks old. After Kona had gone without kittens for about three days, the decision was made to bring these little ones into their home.
It piqued our interest to know why the owner of Kona decided to become a foster parent for pets. Asa had already fostered and provided permanent homes to more than 164 animals. We asked the owner about their motivation, and they shared that it was their way of giving back to the furry friends by fostering them.
Since I was a kid, I have been fond of dogs as I had the privilege of growing up with three of them. At one point, we even had four dogs living with us. My family life was very unstable, but my dogs remained constant and provided me with comfort during tough times. As an only child, I leaned on them heavily for companionship and support. They brought me so much happiness throughout my childhood that I felt a strong desire to give something back to them. That’s why fostering dogs has become my way of repaying them for all the love and joy they gave me.
Kona has a heart of gold and we were curious as to why she took on the role of mothering other animals. According to the narrator, it was something that happened naturally. As time went on, her nurturing nature only continued to flourish.
The woman was thrilled when she met her first foster kitten, however, she found herself developing a friendship with the kitten rather than a maternal bond. As she continued to foster more animals, she began to take on a role as a caretaker and eventually became a mother to the animals in her care.
The undeniable truth is that Kona, Blair, and Chester share a distinct bond which is evident in the photographs we have of them. In light of this, we decided to inquire from Asa about her thoughts on why they connected so well. Asa shared that she thinks Kona felt a deeper connection with these two kittens compared to others they had fostered before because they were more reserved and hadn’t socialized much.
Kona has a special gift indeed! Despite being in my care for 6 weeks now, my pets still haven’t warmed up to me and are shy around people. However, the moment they laid eyes on Kona during her initial visit, they were drawn to her like magic.
Heidi, also known as the heroic “Cat Wrangler,” is on a mission to save kittens from the streets of New York and give them a chance to live a VIP life in foster care at her very own Chez Heidi. Not only does she rescue these adorable felines, but she also educates others on how to practice TNR, which involves trapping, neutering, and returning them to their habitat.
If you’re looking to learn more about caring for kittens, Heidi shares valuable tips on topics such as proper bathing techniques, single kitten syndrome, socializing, and much more. Her expertise is an excellent resource for anyone interested in getting involved in TNR, which is crucially important in today’s world.
The joy and satisfaction that comes from rescuing and caring for these sweet little creatures is unmatched. Heidi knows firsthand the happy boost of serotonin that only kittens can bring, and she’s dedicated her life to making sure they get the love and care they deserve.
A small kitten dubbed as “Marshal” was discovered near a fire station, which captured the hearts of many fans who helped name him. The adorable feline, only three weeks old, had an uncanny resemblance to a firefighter, making him even more lovable. However, due to his young age, Marshal needed to be fed with a bottle every 3-4 hours and required special care.
Heidi gave her fluffy baby, Marshal, a warm bath using Dawn dish soap to get rid of fleas. She gently combed through his fur to make sure there were no remaining pests. To keep Marshal cozy and comfortable, she wrapped him in a bath towel and fleece blanket. Heidi also shared some useful tips for anyone who encounters a cute little baby like Marshal. It’s essential to remember that the mother is likely nearby, so it’s best to keep the baby with her if possible.
According to Heidi, Marshal was discovered near the fire station beside a trash can. It’s uncertain whether his mother abandoned him or a human left him there. However, the good news is that he’s now safe in our care. Heidi also shared some tips for those who come across a kitten like Marshal. Always wait and observe before taking any action. If you have evidence that the kitten is sick or in danger, then it’s best to remove it immediately. Otherwise, keep an eye out because mothers tend to stay nearby to get food. If eight hours pass and there’s still no sign of the mother, then you should take the kittens outside, warm them up, feed them, and seek assistance.
Having faced numerous disappointments with other rescued kittens, Marshal came as a breath of fresh air and lifted the spirits of everyone involved. It’s incredible to see how quickly Marshal has developed and grown into a healthy, robust little fellow after just ten days in foster care. His presence continues to bring joy and delight to countless individuals as he progresses and matures at an impressive rate.
Occasionally, I have a suspicion that perhaps a different kitten was switched with Marshal overnight because he’s grown so much! He has increased from weighing 253 grams to 465 grams, almost doubling his weight! It’s time to embrace your pleasantly plump offspring. After a tough week, Marshal is precisely what we require. In the blink of an eye, he became a grown-up and formed a bond with his adopted child Penn, who was just five weeks old. By matching Marshal with Penn, both felines will be more well-adjusted and avoid experiencing “Single Kitten Syndrome.”
It is highly recommended to apply for adoption in pairs of affiliate cats, as this will help the kittens expend their energy and learn proper feline behavior, such as how to feed themselves. Moreover, they will also develop social skills and learn the limits of acceptable behavior, including not biting humans. This arrangement benefits everyone involved, and the kittens are typically much happier with another feline friend.
Marshal’s story, which showcases the remarkable compassion of firefighters and the power of kindness, has the potential to touch many people’s hearts. It serves as a testament to the unexpected places where animals can be found and the profound impact that rescuing them can have on their well-being.
As Marshal’s tale unfolds, it would be heartwarming to see the cute little kitten thriving in a safe and nurturing home environment. The care and attention given by the firefighting team and the community will play a significant role in shaping Marshal’s future and ensuring that he finds a forever home filled with love, companionship, and warmth.
We extend our gratitude to Heidi Wrangles Cats for sharing this valuable information (and serotonin!) with us. To learn more about Marshal and other adorable pets and cats, be sure to follow and support Heidi on Instagram and Facebook.
